Marble Stone Crystallization:

Restoring the shine of marble is very easy using the process of marble crystallization.

Natural Stone:

What scope stone floors offer, no other types of the floor can do. Ranging from architecture to designing, everyone is using natural stone for their needs and requirements. Across the globe, people have always chosen natural stones for any architectural base like a museum, monuments, cathedrals, government buildings, and hotels. Natural stones are hard in feature and are porous that can absorb pills if left untreated for long. Any abrasive substance like grit, sand or dirt can damage the natural surface of the stone. When choosing the cleaning and marble crystallization methods, people mainly consider sensitivity towards chemicals or acid resistance. Different stone has variable properties creating a different way of treating them. In the Indian market, the most prevailing natural stone is marble and granite.

Marble:

It is mainly preferred in white color but it is available in a wide range of colours depending over the metal salts and oxides embedded in it. It has normally a fine coarse and rough-grained structure. It is easy, soft to follow the marble cleaning process including marble polishing and its maintenance. Just like a normal stone, it is sensitive to acids, solvents, and alkalies and is very sensitive to any sort of mechanical damages like scratches. When the marble flooring turns dull and completely scratches then surely it will lose its luster and shine. At this point, restoring of marble flooring is required and here generates the need for process called marble Crystallization which helps to bring back the lost shine and gloss.

Marble Crystallization is the blend of manual effort and mechanical acidic reaction using calcium carbonate present in the stone. Using processes, calcium carbonate is changed into certain components like oxalates and fluorides which are less sensitive to any acidic actions. Along with this, it even densifies the floor. Marble Crystallization products contain certain abrasives that help in removing little scratches over the floor.

NOTE: the process of Crystallization is only applicable on calcareous floors such as marble.

Steps of Marble Crystallization process:

Marble floor Crystallization is normally a 4-step procedure. The equipment that you would need are:

The process of marble floor Crystallization is conducted in 4 step procedure normally. For conducting the process of Crystallization, you need certain equipment like:

    Marble Crystallization products and chemicals

Single disc machine (weighing 50kgs and rotation speed of 165 rpm)

    Floor pads

    Grinding discs

Along with this, professionals need a wet and dry vacuum cleaner, wet floor sign, microfibre mop, and required basic accessories.

Grinding and marble honing is the initial step of marble floor restoration. This process is done for removing lippage and any other uneven portions of the existing dull floor. This step helps in removing all the sharp edges, roughness and making the surface smooth. This step is important as this helps in removing even the deepest scratches and stains.

Honing process is mainly performed when the dull floor has excessive scratches and stains leading to extreme dullness. This process is mainly conducted using the single disc machine along with diamond pads which cuts off the top layer of the soft marble stone when performed in a uniform pattern. The diamond pads are used for finer to the coarser pattern for ensuring consistency in honing methods.

Before the Crystallization process initiation, the first important thing for cleaning the honed floor using microfibre mop for picking up the finer stone particle. Take the marble Crystallization products and apply properly over the floor using a single disc machine. Massage the Crystallization compound in small fragments of the floor. Then after massaging the floor rinse the floor properly using enough water and then pick up the salt solution using a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Crystallization process helps in creating microfilm over the marble surface that is more durable and solid which helps in preserving brightness and colour of marble.

Benefits of Marble Crystallization:

    Increasing gloss and shiny levels.

Raise the durability of the stone surface that has been altered chemically to calcium fluoro silicate that has less porous and higher durability.

Daily maintenance after marble Crystallization:

Marble floor Crystallization is an expensive proposition, this method cannot be targeted on a regular basis. Every day, the marble floor is adversely affected by consistent foot traffic leading to a reduction in gloss level. Crystallization of the marble floor is done so as to increase the gap between two Crystallization cycles.

Steps for maintaining crystallized marble floor polishing:

Start the process by damp mopping the floor using neutral cleaner and microfibre cloth. For better results, you need to repeat the cleaning activities as per footprint traffic.

Always use a maintainer. Products for marble maintenance using single disc make sure that gloss level is maintained for a longer duration. The Crystallization process can be done over all sorts of marble types as it is good to process for ensuring longer gloss life and appearance.
