Crystallization Floor Polishing in-depth:

Keeping the marble floor at the maximum gloss needs the process of crystallization floor polishing. Experts of floor polishing use this method for maintaining high sheen on marble flooring. Because it completely relies on chemicals, machines and techniques and homeowners cannot do this on their own. The commercial building needs more often marble floor polishing as basic maintenance than the floor of any residential property.

The process of crystallization:

Before the crystallization process, any scratches (minor and major) are removed through machine attached to the industrial diamond disk. During the crystallization process, magnesium acid is properly sprayed over the marble flooring. Further, a floor polishing machine scrubs the acid over the marble and then further applies a different steel wool pad. While the process is in progress, the shine of marble is enhanced with the help of the frictional heat emitted from the machine and steel wool pad.

How does the crystallization process work?

During the marble crystallization process, the upper layer marble composition changes to calcium fluoride. This changed composition is somewhat harder than calcium carbonate. This chemical reaction after conducting the crystallization process results in a smooth, shiny and glossy surface. An expert said calcium carbonate classifications consist of marble, limestone, and travertine of natural flooring. Marble polishes better as it is completely solid. Almost every marble crystallization powder or chemical contains two basic ingredients that are acid, fluorosilicate compounds and at times acrylic polymer or waxes.

Crystallization can react only with marble and limestones having calcium-based stones. Although the method can work over non-calcium stones like granite but reactions are completely different. In a chemical reaction, acid attacks the stone’s calcium carbonate leaving up the etching mark over the surface of the stone.

Advantages of marble crystallization:

Just like waxing, using the process of crystallization doesn’t make any add-ons over the marble floor. It even helps in slip resistance which is a very important thing to consider for the purpose of liability in public areas such as restaurant and hotels. This process makes microfilm over the surface of marble that aids in colour and brightness saving. Crystallization of marble helps in protecting and enhancing the life of marble flooring and durability of floor shine.

Warning:

For any sort of marble, cleaning needs always hire a professional and it is a must-have point that you need to keep in mind. The flooring manufacturer always recommends reputable companies who can take care of your floor needs more than you can even think. Crystallization polishing can be a problem with travertine marble which is not actually true marble. The travertine flooring has voided that manufacturers usually fills with any fillers like cement or polyester.

For starting with, there is no chemical or process for maintaining the shine of the polished marble for a long period of time. Crystallization is just the process of which have its limitations related to types of flooring. Obviously, using marble crystallization process over the honed or non-reflective surface is not a wise decision. This process of floor polishing is only meant for polished surfaces. This crystallization process if the best way of maintaining terrazzo or marble floor that have high foot traffic. Some of the crystallizers today have wax as their composition. Over a period of time, it creates build up that can be removed using alkaline detergents and diamond abrasives before starting up the maintenance process. So, if you are going to get crystallization product then always look for composition that contains zero wax. All you need to do is the research the floor polishing market.
